I absolutely love organic vegan makeup and seeing as I sell it, wearing it is part of my job. But with frequent use of makeup, organic or not, comes skin issues. Personally I have combination acne prone skin, so skincare is definitely a major focus. While I do have a regular skincare routine, I like to add in some natural DIY products here and there to see how my skin reacts. If it reacts positively, it’s something I can add into my regular routine. Here are some DIY skincare recipes to consider adding into your daily/weekly routine:


CALENDULA FACE SCRUB RECIPE FOR DRY SKIN

Organic Face Scrub Recipe


This recipe is meant to brighten your skin and promote skin health. Your skin should feel smoother and look healthier with every use of this calendula face scrub! Gentle exfoliation is also a fantastic way to improve makeup application, even eyebrow products such as our organic eyebrow powder and vegan brow pomade will go on more smoothly if you've exfoliated beforehand.


INGREDIENTS:

2 Tablespoons calendula powder

1 Tablespoon Rhassoul clay

1 teaspoon granulated white sugar

2 teaspoons rosehip seed oil

6 drops manuka essential oil


DIRECTIONS:


STEP #1:


Measure out the calendula powder, Rhassoul clay and sugar into a small bowl or measuring cup.


STEP #2:


Mix the dry ingredients together until evenly combined.


STEP #3:


In a separate container, measure out the rosehip seed oil. Then add the manuka essential oil.


STEP #4:


Now add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until the dry ingredients in your calendula face scrub are coated throughout.


STEP #5:


Transfer your scrub into the container or containers of your choice.

USAGE:


To use your calendula face scrub, apply to damp skin as desired and massage in. Then rinse with water and pat dry.

ORANGE AND CHAMOMILE EXFOLIATING FOAMING CLEANSER

Vegan Cleanser Recipe

This recipe gently exfoliates your face with natural sugar while also helping to clean out pores, remove dry skin, even out redness and soften your complexion! A great first step before applying our best-selling organic foundation.


INGREDIENTS:

7 oz. white granulated sugar

.8 oz. Dr. Bronner’s Baby Mild Unscented Hemp Liquid Castile Soap

.25 oz. sweet almond oil

.05 oz. castor oil

1 Tablespoon chamomile flowers, ground or chamomile flower powder

1 mL blood orange essential oil


DIRECTIONS:


STEP #1:


Begin by weighing out the liquid Castile soap, almond oil and castor oil into a container.


STEP #2:


Using a funnel or pipette, measure out the orange essential oil and add to the soap and oil mixture.


STEP #3:


Whisk well to combine thoroughly. The mixture should look frothy.


STEP #4:


Weigh the sugar into a separate container.

 

STEP #5:

 

Measure out the ground chamomile flowers using a measuring spoon and whisk into the sugar.

 

STEP #6:

 

Slowly pour the sugar and chamomile flower mixture into the container with the liquid mixture, stirring as you go.

 

STEP #7:

 

Continue mixing until all of the ingredients for your exfoliating foaming cleanser are thoroughly combined.

 

STEP #8:


Now transfer your orange & chamomile exfoliating foaming cleanser into two 4 oz containers of your choice.


USAGE:


Simply scoop out the desired amount then massage onto your wet face in circular motion. Rinse with water, then pat dry and follow with your favorite toner and moisturizer.

ORANGE COCONUT COFFEE SCRUB RECIPE

Orange Coconut Coffee Scrub Recipe

If you’ve ever tried the Frank Brand of coffee scrubs or have wanted to, this is a fabulous substitute and an amazing exfoliator!

 

INGREDIENTS:

 4.5 oz. coffee beans, fine ground

2.25 oz. pink Himalayan salt, fine ground

2 oz. brown sugar

3 oz. sweet almond oil

.25 oz. blood orange essential oil

2 mL vitamin E oil

 

DIRECTIONS:  

 

STEP #1:


Using a digital scale, weigh out the ground coffee, pink Himalayan salt and brown sugar. Combine in a glass bowl.


STEP #2:


Mix the dry ingredients together with a fork to ensure even distribution.


STEP #3:


Now weigh out the almond oil and blood orange essential oil into a separate container. Measure out and add the vitamin E oil using a plastic transfer pipette. Then mix together all of the wet ingredients to combine.


STEP #4:


Spoon the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and mix well, using a fork to whisk the ingredients until they are combined thoroughly.


STEP #5:


Now spoon your orange coconut coffee scrub into two 8 oz. containers of your choice.


USAGE:


Scoop out the desired amount then massage onto your wet face in circular motion. Use this before your usual cleanser.
